Nutrition Counseling & Self-Care Coaching
I help people discover the joy in eating and pursue health and well-being without focusing on their body weight. I use an approach called Health At Every Size® and treat every client with respect and compassion. This is a judgment-free zone.
Want to eat in a way that feels good and enhances your well-being? Are you looking for science-based and personalized nutrition information that doesn’t require eliminating tons of foods or going on a diet?
There is so much confusing information and advice about food, nutrition and health. If you’re looking for someone to listen to your needs and your preferences, I’m here to support you.
I’ve been an ethical vegan for more than a decade (learn about my story here) and help people eat more plant-based without dieting. Instead of using “plant-based” as code for “weight loss,” I’ll help you build a healthy relationship with food and your body.
There is a lot more to health than how much we weigh. Which is why I work with clients on habits such as intuitive eating, joyful movement, sleep, stress management and more.
We’ll talk through your current self-care routine and where you want to go. We’ll discuss any changes you want to make in your health and any struggles you’re currently facing.
Here are just some of the types of clients I work with:
- Current vegans and vegetarians (including pregnancy)
- People interested in eating more plant-based
- Those in recovery from eating disorders
- People with disordered eating
- Chronic dieters
- Individuals with chronic conditions such as PCOS, chronic pain and sleep apnea
- People with depression and anxiety
- Busy students and professionals
HAES® is a weight-inclusive approach to health and social justice framework trademarked by the Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH). HAES does not mean that everyone at every size is healthy, but rather that everyone, no matter their size, has the right to pursue health in ways that are meaningful to them. The five principles of HAES are: weight inclusivity, health enhancement, respectful care, eating for well-being and life-enhancing movement.
Intuitive Eating is a non-diet approach and model that has been in more than 75 research studies. It promotes sustainable healthy lifestyle habits and prioritizes internal cues rather than body weight and external factors. The 10 principles of intuitive eating are: ditch the diet mentality, honor your hunger, make peace with food, challenge the food police, respect your fullness, discover the satisfaction factor, honor your feelings without using food, respect your body, exercise using joyful movement and honor your health with gentle nutrition.
Of course! My approach is inclusive of everyone and we can work through your body and weight concerns together. We will talk through your experiences and feelings and create a plan to help you feel your best.
Absolutely! Research shows that including an abundance and variety of plant foods in one’s eating pattern is associated with many health benefits. I can help you learn ways to incorporate more plant foods into your day in delicious, easy ways without dieting or food rules.
Of course! Many of my vegan or vegan-curious clients are looking for help covering their nutrient needs and may not need help with body image.
This is a very nuanced situation. It’s important to work with a professional who can assess and guide you along the way to ensure your mental health is always the top priority. I can help you determine if this is a smart choice for you right now and if it is, we can develop strategies that come from a place of care and compassion rather than restriction.
Absolutely not! I work with all kinds of clients, including those who eat meat, dairy and eggs. I will never pressure you to go vegetarian or vegan.
The first step is to set up a complimentary introductory call so we can learn a bit more about each other and determine if we’re a good fit. Then you’ll book your package and schedule your initial session. Sessions are conducted virtually, via a secure online videoconference (or telephone if you prefer).
Before the first session I will send you an agreement and information form to complete before our session. Typically there are two weeks between follow-up sessions but we will determine your needs in session and schedule follow-ups accordingly.
Sound good? Let’s set up your free introductory call!
