Common questions

What is Health At Every Size?

HAES is a weight-inclusive approach to health and social justice framework trademarked by the Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH). HAES does not say that everyone at every size is healthy, but rather that everyone, no matter their size, has the right to pursue health in ways that are meaningful to them. The five principles of HAES are: weight inclusivity, health enhancement, respectful care, eating for well-being and life-enhancing movement.

What is Intuitive Eating?

Intuitive Eating is a non-diet approach developed by two registered dietitians. It promotes sustainable healthy lifestyle habits and prioritizes internal cues rather than body weight and external factors. The 10 principles of intuitive eating are: ditch the diet mentality, honor your hunger, make peace with food, challenge the food police, respect your fullness, discover the satisfaction factor, honor your feelings without using food, respect your body, exercise using joyful movement and honor your health with gentle nutrition.

I want to eat more plant-based for health reasons. Can you help me?

Absolutely! Research shows that including an abundance and variety of plant foods in one’s eating pattern is associated with many health benefits. I can help you learn ways to incorporate more plant foods into your day in delicious, easy ways without dieting or food rules.

I want to transition to a vegan lifestyle but I am in recovery from an eating disorder. Is this OK?

This is a very nuanced situation. It’s important to work with a professional who can assess and guide you along the way to ensure your mental health is always the top priority. I can help you determine if this is a smart choice for you right now and if it is, we can develop strategies that come from a place of care and compassion rather than restriction.

Can I work with you even if I don’t like my body and want to lose weight?

Of course! My approach is inclusive of everyone and we can work through your body and weight concerns together. We will talk through your experiences and feelings and create a plan to help you feel your best.

Here’s what people are saying…

Taylor was a godsend for me. I was overwhelmed with the amount of information out there on health and how to eat. I was so over diets and sick of obsessing around food. I was looking for guidance on Intuitive Eating when I found Taylor. She’s incredibly knowledgeable and an amazingly supportive coach. Thanks to her guidance I’ve changed my relationship to food and am so much more relaxed about eating! I can gracefully walk away from conversations about diets or ask to change the subject without making things awkward. I enjoy food without guilt and I’m on the path to loving my body.

Working with Taylor is like stepping into the total non-judgment zone. I felt comfortable actually trying out different eating strategies and foods to help address some of my chronic health issues without having to worry that I would just be told to “eat healthier” or exercise harder when I’m not feeling my best. With her help, I’m gaining confidence in listening to my body cues around hunger and fullness, and letting go of the guilt around food.

Working with Taylor was an amazing investment in myself. I struggled with an unhealthy relationship with food and body image for about 15 years. She is extremely knowledgeable and helped me work through my issues. I learned so much about myself in the process. Taylor provided ongoing guidance and encouragement and made the transition to intuitive eating less overwhelming and more manageable. Taylor’s warmth and kindness immediately made me feel comfortable opening up to her. She cultivated a safe space and compassionately supported me on my journey. After working with Taylor, I feel more connected to my body and more comfortable in my own skin. The tools she set me up with have helped me even after our time together. I am so grateful I found Taylor – her passion for empowering women is absolutely inspiring!
